Asian Caprolactam: Rises on support from upstream, downstream markets / China market sees continued recovery / Demand tepid outside China amid seasonal lull

Asian caprolactam $10/mt higher in the week to Nov. 21 at $1,510/mt CFR Far East Asia amid support from upstream benzene and healthy demand in China. Upstream benzene prices gained strength, with the FOB Korea marker closing at $901/mt Nov. 21, rising $36/mt on the week, while demand was healthy in China from new downstream plants coming online, said market sources. China domestic prices have continued to rebound, with participants reporting a Yuan 100-200/mt increase in prices from the previous week. "There's quite a lot of new capacity in PA6 [polyamide-6, also known as nylon-6] in China, so downstream demand is still robust," said a producer.
