Asian Caprolactam: Prices rise as buyers replenish stock / China market increases / Turnaround activity to be expected in Q4: Source

The price of Asian caprolactam was $5/mt more in the week ended August 8, as buyers sought cargoes ahead of anticipated turnarounds expected in the fourth quarter. The upstream markets were mixed. Prices of benzene rose by $13/mt in the past week, to $1014.33/mt F.O.B. Korea on August 8, whereas ammonia fell by $15/mt. The last estimate for ammonia was $425/mt Far East Asia on Aug 7. A market source said that some turnaround activity will be expected in the fourth-quarter, which is leading buyers to replenish their stock. Taiwanese producers also reported that they received "a few big orders" in the past week.
