Asian Caprolactam: Falling as benzene ends weakened / Benzene falls $46/mt on week / Freight rates continue limiting deep sea cargo sales

Asian caprolactam prices fell week over week from June 20 to 20, as they took their cues both from a weaker China domestic market and the upstream benzene market. the benzene FOB Korea marker was $1,002/mt at the end of last week, down $18/mt from day to day. Participants on the market attributed recent weakness in the benzene price to the expectation of supply tightness ease and the thinning demand as a result of downstream turnaround activity. A source said that as the end of the monthly period approaches, participants are mostly sitting on the sidelines, with little buying or selling.
