On March 29, spot pricing in the European
market for MTBE continued to rise as strikes in France continued to put
considerable pressure on fundamentals. Spot pricing for European MTBE was $1,118.25/mt on March 28,
an increase of $15/mt over the bid during the Market on Close assessment
process. The MTBE premium over the front
month gasoline swap increased by $19/mt between March 28 and $282.50/mt.
Strikes in France remained the main driver of market fundamentals. This led to
some tightening supply due to lower production output and logistical delays. A source stated that the strikes in France have caused
problems for the entire supply chain, logistics, and production. This
