The Asian butadiene market was in a bearish trend in the week ended July 26. Market participants cited an influx in deep-sea shipments and a weakening of production margins downstream as reasons for the cautious pricing indicated by buyers in September cargoes. The market was influenced by a deal for 7,500 mt EU-origin Butadiene to arrive in late September or early October at $1,540-1,550/mt FCL China. Some participants said that cargoes of Northeast Asian origin would have difficulty finding buyers above $1,550/mt FCL Northeast Asia for cargoes arriving in September. The sharp drop in Chinese domestic prices also contributed to the negative sentiment. According to several sources, the Yuan 300/mt reduction would have a downward impact on import prices.
