Asian Butadiene: Falls $10/mt amid rising supplies Sentiment weaker due to ample supply and low demand / South Korea's imports in July have increased by over threefold

The price of Asian butadiene fell again on August 16, dropping $10/mt per day, to $1,470/mt CIF China. This was due to the abundance of spot availability. Total Asian butadiene prices fell $30-$60/mt from a previous week. Ex-Southeast Asia shipments, which were sold recently FOB SE Asia, have reportedly been shipped to Northeast Asia. Several trading sources reported that a cargo had been sold at $1480/mt FOB Taiwan, and another cargo at $1470/mt CIF China. Several trading sources reported that ex-Europe cargo had been traded at a price of $1,400/mt CFR North East Asia. Some were skeptical, however, as the arbitrage window from Europe to Asia is currently closed due to the persistent weakness of Asian butadiene.
