The price of Asian butadiene increased further before the Lunar New Year holiday. It was up $20-$40/mt on day Jan. 24 due to lastminute purchases based CFR China. Asian butadiene increased by $50-$60/mt from a week ago. CFR China butadiene prices increased $30/mt per day, reaching $1,490/mt on Jan. 24. This is the highest price since Oct. 24, 2020, when they were assessed at $1.520/mt. China's appetite for buying spot cargoes to be delivered in February remained strong in the week that began Jan. 20. Spot cargos from Southeast Asia were traded between $1,500 and $1,550/mt CFR China, for delivery in February, while a spot cargo ex-Taiwan was traded at $1 465/mt FBO Taiwan.
