Asian Butadiene: Quiet on uncertain direction Limited offers / Buying interest tempered on sufficient inventories

The Asian butadiene market was quiet on July 31. Most participants stayed away from the markets due to the uncertainty. Import markets saw few bids or offers, as sellers said the situation in Europe was still unclear. "EU-origin loads due to be loaded in the first half are mostly unaffected. However, the situation regarding those due to be loaded in the second half of August is still uncertain." A trader in China said, "We are not currently offering any cargoes." The buying interest in Asia was muted. Many traders cited sufficient inventories and low margins for derivative production as reasons. Sources said that falling futures prices contributed to the negative sentiment. The C+F Japan Naphtha Marker was up $8/mt in one day to $661.50/mt.
