Asian butadiene is stable at $1,490/mt CFR China on Jan. 31, 2019. The number of discussions on spot prices was low, as many market participants were absent due to the Lunar New Year holidays. Most market participants in China and Taiwan, as well some Southeast Asian countries, are away for the majority of the week because of the holiday season. Market sources predicted that trading activity would increase next week. The holiday prompted restocking of Asian butadiene, which drove the price to its highest level in three months. Sources on the market said that the strong sentiment will likely continue to be a factor after the holiday due to limited supplies.
