The Chinese methanol markets were slightly
bullish on June 5, due to potential Iranian supply cuts. On June 5, the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange's
September methanol contract closed at Yuan 2 059/mt, Yuan 8/mt more than last
week but Yuan 30/mt less than June 2. The Bushehr
Petrochemical Co., a methanol producer in Iran, reported that the 1,65 million
mt/year Bushehr Petrochemical Co. methanol plant experienced technical problems
between June 3-4. Production was stopped on June 5. Repairs may
take between 10-14 days. According to market sources, some
Iranian methanol manufacturers were considering reducing their operating rates
because the current Chinese methanol price was too low. CFR China
methanol was unchanged at $245/mt as of June 5 due to Singapore...
