On thin trade, Asian monoethylene glycol
imports remained stable every day through April 4. The May futures contract
on the Dalian Commodity Exchange rose Yuan 2 mt to settle at Yuan 4,196/mt
exp-tank April 4. At 4:30 PM Singapore time
(0830 GMT), April 4, the ICE June Brent crude oil futures contract jumped
$1.31/b to $85.52/b. The sellers stated
that they are bound by the current market pricing, which is largely determined
by futures. They cannot lift offers even though they will not make profits
unless MEG prices reach at least $700/mt CFR. They stated that many producers chose to run at the lowest
rate possible within safety and economic standards.
