Brent Jun futures drop $1.22/b in a single day / Upstream benzene falls $14/mt on day

The April 22 assessment for CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markers was $1,156.50/mt, down $15/mt. Sources attributed the decline in discussions for Asian SM on Chinese domestic markets to movements in crude oil and benzene upstream prices. "Oil prices dropped and aromatics in general seemed weaker." A market source said that there isn't much support for price discussions today. Crude oil futures fell in the afternoon Asian trade on April 22 as traders awaited new stimulus from China following its central bank's decision to leave its benchmark loan rates unchanged. The front-month ICE Brent contract closed the day $1.22/b at $86.01/b. Market sources also reported that upstream benzene was also down, following the decline in crude oil.
