Brent falls $5.1/b-
Saudi Chemanol restarts its methanol plant

Sources
say that Asian methanol prices were stable despite thin trade on March 20. Given
the current uncertain macroeconomic environment, buyers opted to wait and see. The
May ICE Brent crude oil futures contract fell $5.1/b over the course of the day
to $70.34/b by 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT), March 20. Sources say
that Saudi Arabia's Methanol Chemicals has resumed production at its Jubail
methanol plant, which produces 231,000 mt/year. It completed a scheduled 17-day
maintenance turnaround. The company is now increasing operating rates. According
to a company announcement, the plants were restarted March 14. Both plants
were closed Feb. 25.
