- Brent declines 10 cents/b- Low operating rates

Asian monoethylene glycol imports were
steady day after day April 5, as China was on holiday. At 4:30pm Singapore time
(0830 GMT), April 5, the June ICE Brent crude oil futures contract fell 10
cents/b to $85.42/b. Futures on the May
Dalian Commodity Exchange gained Yuan 2mt to settle at Yuan 4,196/mt Ex-Tank on
April 4. The market was shut down April 5. Sellers stated that they are bound by market prices, which
are largely determined by futures. They cannot lift offers even if they can't
profit unless MEG price is at least $700-720/mt CFR. They stated that many producers chose to run at the lowest
rate possible within safety and economic standards.
