Brazil PP : Prices rise, but demand is dull / Prices rise $10/mt / Sellers avoid importation due to logistical issues

The import price of polypropylene to Brazil increased slightly in the week ended July 3. This was due to a shortage of imports from China and Saudi Arabia because logistics problems. The prices of both homopolymer (also known as copolymer) and polypropylene grades each increased by $10/mt in the past week. A trader stated that polypropylene was a "relic" of the past. "I tried to sort material from Colombia but the prices were not competitive." The trader said he cancelled trades made months ago with Chinese producers and booked the exact same amount with Saudi Arabian producers.
