In the week ending August 14, the price of polypropylene imported to Brazil for homopolymer and copolymer grades fell. This was due to the fact that China dominated the market, and the freight rate from Asia to Brazil decreased. Prices for both homopolymer injection and copolymer grades dropped by $30/mt. Container FEU rate for North Asia to East Coast South America was $6,800/container (272/mt), a drop of $900/container (36/mt), compared to Aug. 13. This is the lowest price since May 15. Sources mention even lower rates for Brazil deliveries. A trader stated that "offers were available again as freight rates began to drop." "But I still don't buy any material."
