The price of polypropylene imported to Brazil increased by $50/mt in the last week for homopolymer and $30/mt copolymergrades as the Middle East offered more, driven by the increase in freight rates and the disappearance of Asian products from the market. Freight prices from North Asia on June 12 to EastCoast South America were $8,500/container or $340/mt. This was a $20/mt rise week-on-week. Since the end of March, prices have been increasing. A importer stated that, in addition to the price increases, loading is not available from Asia. Middle Eastern products increased from $80/mt up to $100/mt due to increases in freight prices.
