The demand for PET in Asia was muted in the
week ended June 21 due to a slowdown in finished goods trade. In the bottle
grade chip market, sellers reduced their offers in order to attract buyers
despite the abundance of supply. Most plants
in China were running 90%-100% capacity, which meant that cargoes are
plentiful. Some sellers still had July-loading lot available. A trader
from northeast Asia expressed concern about the growing supply. He said that at
least two plants were expected to start operations in the late third quarter of
2023. We don't expect demand to improve in the near
future, so the opening of new plants would only increase the pressure that we
