Asian Benzene Prices: Prices fall on weaker upstream markets / Crude oil falls 34 cents/b, naphtha loses $2.25/mt / Taiwan market awaits CPC results

Prices for Asian benzene were $1.50/mt less at $901.83/mt, FOB Korea on Jan. 17 due to weaker markets upstream. Brent futures for the first month fell by 34 cents/b, to $81.70/b at the Asian close on Jan. 17. The C+F Japan naphtha marker fell $2.25/mt, to $682.75/mt on Jan. 17. A styrene-monomer producer in Southeast Asia said that CFR Southeast Asia tradable indicators "should be at a single-digit discount to the weekly Mean of Korea for the arrival month, if CFR China premiums are down to single-digits premiums to the arrival month wMOPK. The producer stated that despite the lack of demand in downstream markets, benzene manufacturers in Southeast Asia continued to search for opportunities to ship cargoes to China.
