Asian Benzene: Prices fall tracking downstream styrene / Taiwan's CPC completes spot and term buy tenders / Discussions on Southeast Asia contract terms are in progress

Prices of Asian benzene fell on Dec. 6 as a result of styrene downstream markets being weaker. Asian benzene prices were down $4/mt on December 5 to $890.33/mt F.O.B. Korea. Brent futures for the first month fell by 43 cents/b, to $72.09/b as of Asian close on Dec. 6. The styrene CFR China mark fell $8/mt and is now $1,032/mt. Paraxylene also dropped 16 cents/mt CFR Taiwan/China to $806.67/mt. On the trading day, firm bids for CFR China cargoes arriving in February were seen at premiums of between $24 and $25/mt over the weekly Mean of Korea for February (wMOPK). These premiums are higher than those previously seen for cargoes arriving in January, because the domestic China market is still in contango. No firm offers for return were made. According...
