Asian Benzene: Rises $3/mt amid mixed related markets / FOB Korea H2 Dec/Jan contango narrows / Thin talks in Taiwan and China amid muted demands

The Asian benzene market rose on Nov. 15, with the FOB Korean marker closing at $867.67/mt, despite mixed performances in other markets. The upstream market was generally weaker. As of the Asian closing, the front month Brent futures contract fell 67 cents/b, to $71.53/b, and the naphtha mark C+F Japan closed $11.25/mt less at $618.50/mt. Styrene monomer C+F China was stable at $1,019/mt. The FOB Korea physical market saw a bid of minus $9/mt for the H2 January/December physical spread. This resulted in a spread assessment of minus $8/mt. The buying indications for CFR China cargoes remain weak.
