Asian Benzene: Prices rise amid bullish China market / USCP-based offers and bids heard for FOB Korea / MRPL offers 27,000 mt benzene loading Feb 22-26

The stronger Chinese market fueled a $10/mt increase in Asian benzene to $903.33/mt FOB Korea on Jan. 24. Brent futures for the first month fell 80 cents/b during the trading session, reaching $78.28/b at the Asian close. The naphtha C+F Japan mark rose $1.50/mt on Jan. 24, to $673.50/mt. Bids and offers were heard in the morning session for cargoes based on US contract prices for FOB Korea loadings in April. Last bids and offers for April-loading FOB Korea cargoes were $30/mt ($25/mt) and $30/mt ($25/mt), respectively. US CP was settled last at 313 cents/gal which is equivalent to $937/mt on January 6. Market sources estimate that the freight cost for a chemical tanker travelling from Northeast Asia to US Gulf Coast is around $2 million. This would translate to...
