The day's spot price for European benzene
fell as the buying interest was weak. Spot activity for benzene has slowed down after
a high level of liquidity was experienced during the five-day settlement period
for the June contract. A trader reported that offer levels were pushed
lower as the buy interest in the market was low. On June 1,
the five to thirty days forward delivery laycan price was $928.50/mt CIF ARB,
down $21.25/mt from the previous day. The
downstream styrene market was also characterized by a thin buying appetite, as
the industry-set monthly contract price was being settled. Sources
