Bearish fundamentals persist across Europe / Imports do not affect domestic material

In the week ending May 15, consumers reported no difficulty in obtaining material on the European Polyethylene Terephthalate Spot Market. A converter stated that there was no problem in May finding the material desired in any quantity. "I have to cancel some of my orders." Market participants reported that, despite slight improvements in weather conditions across Europe, the end-consumer's demand for PET bottles was lower than expected. Converters, however, still have sufficient stock. Recycling companies in the UK have continued to see a growing demand for virgin PET as compared to recycled PET.
