The backwardation on the European naphtha markets was volatile again, with the crack spreading and the East-Wests shrinking. The demand for naphtha in gasoline blending was strong. According to a Europe-based trader, heavy naphtha premias were in the $70-$80 range/mt for open specification naphtha in the ARA area due to strong gasoline blending demands. The market is still anticipating the summer driving season which has so far not had a significant impact. According to an European petrochemical company, the demand for naphtha is "not very good".
