The European naphtha markets' backwardation
weakened on the day due to intense trading. The June/July Spread fell
by $2.25/mt, to $5.50/mt. And the July/August Spread was down by $1.75/mt, to
$0/mt. Sources said that market players
expected a softening of the backwardation after a recent tightening in the
market. Spreads had been overdone before. The
supply situation improved as Algeria began to slowly send cargoes back to the
ARA hub. Sources claim that one CDU at the
La Skikda Refinery is still undergoing maintenance. According to Kpler Shipping Data, the forecast for Algerian
cargoes exports into Northwest Europe during the week commencing June 5 is
