The price of Asian paraxylene rose $5.50/mt
to $990.33/mt, CFR Unv1/China on June 20. This was in conjunction with the
rebound in futures for purified terephthalic acids on China's Zhengzhou
Commodity Exchange. On an import-parity base, the most
actively traded PTA contract for September on ZCE rose Yuan 58/mt (or around
$7.03/mt) at Yuan 5,556/mt. The first session of trading was also bullish. C&F
Japan's naphtha mark was also up $5.13/mt to $536.125/mt, day on day. This
means that PX prices have been supported upstream as well as downstream. Prices were
supported by the bids of traders and producers during the Market on Close
