Market sources say that sentiment in the Asian naphtha markets is likely to be weak on May 20 as petrochemicals demand continues to lag and little impact has been observed on the naphtha supplies following the attack at the Russian Slavyansk Refinery. At the Asian close on May 17, the CFR Japan naphtha crack price against the front-month ICE Brent futures was $50.53/mt, an increase of $4.93/mt over the previous week. Crude oil futures rose in Asian morning trade on May 20 as the markets took into account risk premiums after a helicopter crash that involved Iran's president and drone strikes on Russia's Slavyansk Refinery.
