Asian recycled HDPE: Stable despite limited price changes / Limited Price Movement / Weak Demand Persists

The Asian market for recycled low density polyethylene was stable during the week ending Nov. 6. Tight scrap supplies continued to support prices despite a weak demand. The recycled low density polyethylene film was stable at $750/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. Recycled HDPE black blow-molding pellets were unchanged at $570/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. Sources said that demand remained flat, supply fundamentals stayed the same, and prices were not moving much. Japan Containers and Packaging Recycling Association reported Nov. 1 that plastics waste exported from Japan rose 4.5% on a month-to-month basis but declined 4% year on year, to 52,554mt. Malaysia, with 16,659 mt of exports, has been the largest recipient, declining 1.6% from the previous month.
