Asian PTA : Markets end mixed, CFR China rises- China's
higher downstream operation rates boosts PTA demand- India's
supply shortage pushes the price upPrices for purified terephthalic acids rose
$5/mt to $830/mt CFR China March 31, compared to $825/mt March 24. After continuing to rise
for the last six days, China's PTA domestic prices fell on March 31, after it
strengthened up. PTA sellers in China said
that the main driver of the price rise was the healthy operation rates
downstream. This was in addition to the lack in upstream PX as PX plants were
due for closure. PTA buyers in India
stated that China's downstream operation rates were around 85-90%. This
explained why prices were rising in China and Indian PTA prices. The buyer also stated that India's price rise was due to a
