In the European market for polystyrene, the
pricing disparity between domestic and imported levels continued in the week
leading up to the 7th of June. A
distributor had said that European-produced material sold at Eur1,700-1.730/mt
earlier in the week. A distributor said earlier in the week that
European produced material was selling at Eur1,700-1,730/mt, a price which
contrasted with low import levels. Offers from an Asian manufacturer were
$1,275/mt CIF-ARA. Since early May, offers at $1,300-1400/mt were
heard, which indicates that arrivals in this price range could be expected
during June. Buyers expected sharp drops in contract prices
due to the lower settlement of the June styrene-monomer contract price. The price
