Asian PE: Chinese market weakens amid sluggish demand, yuan depreciation / PE CFR China Prices Trend Downward on Week / Muted trade in SE Asia; HDPE and LLDPE film price down $10/mt

The prices of polyethylene in China have been trending downwards in the week ending Nov. 20 due to a slowdown in demand and a further depreciation in the Chinese Yuan against the US Dollar. High density polyethylene films CFR Far East Asia were down $5/mt from the previous week to $910/mt, while linear low density film CFR Far East Asia was down $10/mt during the same time period. On Nov. 20, low density polyethylene films CFR Far East Asia were assessed at $1,120/mt. This was a $20/mt decrease from the previous week. Since Trump's reelection two weeks ago, the yuan is falling against US dollars.
