Asian Glycols : Lower Inventory Levels Support MEG / Overall price levels are higher than last week : Polyester operating rates drop 1.6% in a week

In the week ending July 12, lower inventories supported the Asian monoethylene-glycol market. Some participants reported that the higher prices came despite a decline in operating rates for the downstream polyester sector. According to one producer, the run rates of polyester plants in China have been estimated at 86.1% for the week compared with 87.7% the week before. "MEG inventories are low, and this is helping to support the market's pricing. Some plants need to replenish their cargo.
