Asian Glacial Acryl Acid: Price stable as demand weakens / China's Qinzhou Huay Acrylic Plant operates at 90% / GAA's domestic price reaches highest level since 2024 - Jan 16, 2025

On Jan. 14, the Chinese market for glacial acrylic acids remained steady on the day as well as the week, at Yuan 8350/mt. This is based on the tradeable indicator heard at Yuan 8350/mt. A Chinese trader stated that the downstream is in the slow season for demand and that there are few high-priced acid products being sold. Another domestic trader also echoed that demand would be low as the market approached the spring festival. Market sources reported that despite the continuing depressed demand for GAA, its price has reached an all-time high through 2024. The Qinzhou Huayi GAA plant in China, which produces 80,000 mt/year of GAA, is said to have resumed operations on January 11, and currently operates at 90%.
