Asian Ethylene - Increased interest in buying in NE Asia / Buy-sell indicators up in NE Asia / Discussions on de-loading FOB Korea could begin next week

Some discussions were heard about November cargoes on the Asian ethylene market in the last week of October. Some buyers in Northeast Asia remained interested in H2 November deliveries. A few indications were heard between $830 and $840/mt, CFR NE Asia. This represents a premium of up to $5/mt. Some sellers in Northeast Asia were indicating a willingness to sell at $860/mt or above CFR NE Asia. This would be a premium of up to $10/mt. Most participants preferred formula-based discussions, however, due to the volatility of upstream and uncertainty in downstream. The increased demand for ethylene was attributed to discussions about new downstream plants that were expected to be operational in China.
