EDC: The Asian ethylene Dichloride price is stable at $280/mt for Far East Asia/Southeast Asia from Dec. 19, and will be the same on Jan. 9, 2019. The spot price discussion was limited due to the unclear outlook for downstream vinyl chloride monomer markets and polyvinylchloride. Asia's EDC was seen as weaker due to a declining ethylene feedstock. CFR Northeast Asia ethylene down $5/mt Dec. 19, to $870/mt January 9. The cost-based value of chlorine for Northeast Asia, which was minus 47.64/mt on Dec. 19, has been calculated to be minus 45.67/mt as of Jan. 9. PVC weekly assessments have been suspended due to the New Year holiday.
