Due to abundant supply and weakness downstream, the Asian butadiene markets softened during the week ending August 2. In terms of supply, market sources have stated that despite the announcements made during the week of European shutdowns, H1 August loading shipment will load as planned, and H2 August load shipments are expected to load on schedule, which limits buying urgency in Asia due to these outages. The expectation of more availability in Southeast Asia due to a weakening demand would also increase the supply into Northeast Asia. This will keep buyers in Northeast Asia cautious.
