Asian ABS Prices Rise on Increasing Demand- Feedstock mix on week- Price levels 'weak': producersAcryolonitrile-butadiene-styrene inched up
$5/mt on the week to April 5 on improving demand, but worries about the demand
outlook and near-term oversupply remain. The week ended April 5 saw mixed results from upstream
feedstocks. Styrene monomer was at $1115/mt CFR China, an increase of
$30.50/mt, while the acrylonitrile CFR Far East Asia marker, which was at
$1480/mt, was $40/mt lower. At $1,150/mt,
the butadiene CFR China assessment fell $50/mt. A producer in China stated that China's demand was improving
but "far from expectations". Despite
the improvement in demand, a source was worried that new capacity coming online
in the future coupled with what he believed to be higher-than-sustainable
