Asian ABS: Stable amid thin spot discussions, no trades / China ABS operating rate rises to 61.25% / Upstream styrene monomer price rises $10.50/mt on week

The Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia markers stable at $1,455/mt and $1,475/mt, on the week Aug. 28. Offers were heard to have remained relatively tight in the week amid a muted market. "Oil price pushed SM firmer. So, I think ABS, PS markets are stable to firmer this week. But demand is still weak for China market," another producer said. CFR China styrene monomer and FOB Korea markers on Aug. 28 at $1,134/mt and $1,119/mt, both up $10.50/mt from the previous week. The rise in styrene monomer prices was heard to have fallen in recent days due to weak upstream crude oil and benzene prices.
