As arbitrage opportunities for US exports arose, the spot styrene prices at the Styrolution US Gulf Coast facility rose by $155/mt in the week ending July 26. Market participants report that power outages after Hurricane Beryl, a Category 1 storm, made landfall near Matagorda in Texas on July 8, have affected styrene output. On July 26, front-month spot price was $1,305/mt, FOB USG. Forward-month spot price was $1,275/mt, FOB USG. Both prices were up $155/mt since July 19. On July 24, a trade was made at $1.305/mt FOB USG. Offers for August were $1.300/mt or $1.323/mt, both FOB USG. Although the supply of styrene in Europe has decreased, the demand is still moderate.
