US HDPE export prices drop $11/mt and more amid weakening demand-supply dynamics / Blowmolding and film rail car values are often heard at mid-40s cents/lb / Customers await price declines as producers hold firm: sources

Spot export prices for high density polyethylene fell between $11 and $22/mt compared to a week earlier on July 31. The market was awaiting fresh-month offers as fundamentals were weakened. From July 26-30, blowmolding railcars were valued between 44-47 cents/lb. HDPE film railcar values were also heard within a range of 44-46 cents/lb. Rail cars for HDPE injectiongrade were talked about in the 36-38 cents/lb area. Final settlements from producer auctions earlier in the month were higher than spot prices for blowmolding grades and film grades, leading some market participants to express a bullish outlook for the resins despite export availability concerns.
