Styrene Monomer Price Rise in Asia Despite Crude Oil Decline

Jan 23, 2025

The latest chemical market report shows that despite a decline in crude oil values, the styrene monmer (SM), prices in Asia increased on Tuesday. The rise was attributed by analysts to a higher upstream price of benzene and an improved buying mood across the region. FOB Korea SM was assessed at USD 1030-1040/mt. This represents a USD 5/mt increase from Monday. CFR China SM reached USD 1040-1050/mt. Upstream benzene was also gaining strength, with FOB Korean benzene being assessed at USD 910-910/mt. This represents a USD 10/mt increase from the previous day.
