The price of Asian butadiene remained
stable on May 23, at $860-880/mt CFR China. Market sentiment in Asia
Butadiene remained negative as the spot demand for rubber downstream production
was scarce and margins were low. According
to market sources, rubber demand will likely remain negative for the moment,
despite increasing automobile production in Asia, due high tire inventories. Several market sources stated that it will take several
months before the high tire inventories start to decrease. The spot price in China was stable from day to day, at Yuan
7,150/mt (or $882/mt based on import parity) on May 23. Due to the butadiene factory turnaround in China, China's
domestic price was higher than CFR China. The
