Naphtha price increases $12.50/mt in one day / Concerns about supply in China

The Asian benzene price rose during the session. On April 16, the FOB Korea and CFR China marks were $1,073/mt, and $1,087.50/mt, respectively, up by $11.50/mt. Prices rose on the market as upstream prices were strong. The macroeconomy saw crude oil futures higher in the mid-afternoon Asian trading on April 16 as fresh data from Beijing confirmed expectations of steady demand. However, signs of weakness could have limited gains. The front-month ICE Brent contract closed the day 66 cents/b above the previous trading session at $90.21/b. Meanwhile, the C+F Japan Naphtha contract was $12.50/mt more expensive at $709.875/mt. Market sources said that there was talk of a plant in East China shutting down due to problems with a reformer. This shutdown would affect production of paraxylene, benzene and other aromatics....
