The European butadiene spot price fell in
the week ending June 16. This was due to a weak domestic demand for the product
and an arbitrage window that had closed to Asia. FOB Rotterdam spot butadiene price $420/mt is
down $50/mt from the previous day and $70/mt for the entire week, the lowest
since August 27, 2020. In Europe, the supply outweighed demand with producers
holding high inventories even though they were operating at lower rates. Demand was
weak, with consumers not interested in buying spot quantities. Some said that
they may not be able to meet their contractual minimum obligations during the
summer due to a further softening of downstream demand. The demand
