- Chinese domestic price rangebound- Some sources anticipate
further downside as supplies rise

The Asian propylene market was stable on March
1. The price of polymer-grade propylene was unchanged at $945-960/mt CFR China.
However, traders were cautious due to trepidation about low downstream
prices. Prices in the Chinese domestic market
were stable-to-slightly-higher, with Shandong domestic prices heard between
Yuan 7,450-7,500/mt. Looking ahead, some market players expect further downside
as lower propane prices might prompt regional propane dehydrogenation plants to
increase operation rates, pushing up propylene supplies. Upstream, the crude oil
market moved higher on the day. At 4:30 PM Singapore, the May
ICE Brent crude oils futures contract was $1.23/b higher than the previous
Asian close of $83.93/b.
