Prices on the European polypropylene market continued to rise in the week ending August 28, contrary to seasonal trends that are typical at this time of year. While the underlying demand is still poor, the tight supply pockets caused by a combination between weak demand in the entire value chain, and the quiet conditions across the continent due to the summer holidays, have resisted any possible price decrease. Pricing on both the spot and contract market increased throughout the week. This was contrary to the usual expectations of pricing trends in August, when the markets are typically quiet.
