Asia Polyols and Isocyanates, PMDI Rises amid Freight Spike, Tight Supply; Slabstock Stable / Polymeric MDI increases week / Slabstock polyol unchanged from week

Prices of polymeric methylene-diphenyl-diisocyanate rose in the week ending May 31, mainly due to a sharp rise in the containerized freight rates, and a tighter supply on the international market. The price of slabstock polyol remained unchanged during the same time period. Market participants heard offers at the exact same level throughout the week. CFR India polymeric diphenyldiisocyanate was $120/mt more expensive on May 31 than the previous week, at $2215/mt. PMDI offers for May 31 ranged between $2,200-2330/mt CFR India, while India ex tank offers ranged from Rupee 195 to 200/kg. Sources on the market said that plant closures and an increase in containerized freight rates in Far East Asia, Singapore and Malaysia have caused a significant revision of offers from producers.
