- Wider price contango- Crackers operating at minimum levelsSources said that the European naphtha
markets remained weak in general on June 16 despite some persistent demand for
immediate supply. On
the day, there were six bids on the market and three offers that were still
outstanding. The spread between June/July
and July/August fell by 50 cents/mt each to minus $3.50/mt. However, the spread
between July/August remained unchanged at minus 4/mt. The crack dropped 25 cents/b and reached minus $13.90/b.
This is the lowest price since December 28. Sources report that crackers were running at minimum levels
due to the tough fundamentals. The petrochemical demand is at low levels. Sources say that the discount of naphtha to gasoline is
