China's Sinopec reduces local list price | Asia butadiene/naphtha spreading hits a 4-month low

Asian butadiene dropped $20/mt per day, to
$840/mt CFR China on May 24. This is the lowest since December 27, 2022 when it
was $830/mt. Sources
said that the Asian butadiene markets remained negative on May 24. According to sources, a major supplier Sinopec cut its local
list price late on May 23 by Yuan 200/mt. This equates to $922/mt based on
import parity. The buying appetite was
still low due to lower operations at downstream plants, and supplies were
plentiful in Asia. A cargo from Southeast Asia is reported to have been offered
for China. The CFR Japan naphtha was
assessed at $601.75/mt, up $13.50/mt from the previous day. The spread between naphtha and butadiene was calculated to
be $238.25/mt...
